Greetings one and all. No wait... that's not a proper intro.

I know what you're thinking. Did he fire 6 shots or only 5? To tell you the truth in all the excitement I, kind of lost track myself. But even the .44 magnum the powerful handgun in the world able to blow your head clean off, you've got to ask yourself one question....

Are you getting it? You really getting it? Yeah Armaggedon It?

Ok enough with the silly intro. I was delighted to see Def Leppard posting that they was finally able to resell their music videos from the Hysteria album on iTunes, and they posted them on Youtube. So I went to have a peek and noticed that Armaggedon It was radically different. I mean whole segments re-clipped with new ones, other clips shortened, etc. I also noticed a lot more of Steve Clark, and I'm certainly not complaining. It prompted me to look at the original Historia edit of the video and compare it to the Best Of: The Videos and the Rock of Ages Definitive Collection DVD and see if there was a difference. There is, but most of it's minor, and stuff that only a die-hard fan would catch.

Here is a link to the Best Of: Videos version:   http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tBj5neka5Zw

This is the newly released Official from DefLeppardOfficial:

The changes are pretty obvious, so you don't need to sync them and play them at the same time. I did only to get a really awesome comparison, and because I was die-hard fan curious. (Old skool online identity: deflepnut2003. Yeah, I was that guy.)

That's all for now, will probably do a post on Smashing Pumpkins soon

A little bit of musical history (original post)

Recognize the picture on the right? I wouldn't expect you to, it's at an angle from what you might normally see. It's my record (vinyl) player, with a copy of Def Leppard's Hysteria in Picture Disc form on it. (Only fitting, it was the 25th Anniversary of the album's release yesterday, Aug 3rd.)

To not delve too deep into history, vinyl was one of first and only ways to preserve music into a form that could be sold to the mass public. The basic premise that the sound is "etched" into grooves that is then read by a needle (or a laser for the more modern and high priced players) that translates the sound into something you can hear.

Vinyl is also an analog format, not digital like your CD's and Mp3's are, which leads some people to say that it has a better sound. It's a matter of opinion, as I think it sounds warmer, or has a better definition. Some tones I can't hear, but I can tell the difference between records and digitally processed sound. There are others still that say digital is better. Doesn't matter really, to each their own, just so long you enjoy it.

I myself am a self proclaimed musical nut, but I also have a narrow vision: I love Rock and I seldom deviate from that. If I was to narrow it down by decades, I like the 80's and 90's the most for various reasons.

Once we get the site rolling a little better, I'm sure we'll have new ideas and content to get you guys excited about. I know I'm pretty pumped about the music section, I have a number of ideas already that I'd love to write about, time permitting.

Speaking of time, it's quite early in the morning for me, so I'm gonna bounce. Keep on rockin, and don't forget there's always a Side B to a mix tape.

Starting us off with the first musical post and if you can guess the lyrical line's origin (without Google) then props to you. I would give you a cookie but I don't have any.

So lately the musical rotation has been very 90's laden. Soundgarden, Rage Against the Machine, Alice in Chains, Guns N Roses (Mainly Use Your Illusion I and II).

Not sure why, aside a lot of that music screams to go against the norm and do what you want, within reason. Everything has a limitation, it's just how it must be. You have to draw a line somewhere to mark as a stopping point.

On this day of reflection, because I'm feeling especially philosophical, the Weekly Mix Tape is:

Side A:
1) Cowboys From Hell - Pantera (4:06)
2) Killing In The Name - Rage Against the Machine (5:10)
3) Man In A Box - Alice in Chains (4:54)
4) November Rain - Guns N Roses (8:57)
5) Disappearing Boy - Green Day (2:52)
6) Rocket - Live At Don Valley -Def Leppard (11:30)
7) Lithium - Nirvana (4:17)

Side B)
1) Them Bones - Alice In Chains (2:30)
2) Head Like a Hole - NIN (5:00)
3) Thunderkiss '65 _ White Zombie (3:53)
4) Immigrant Song - Led Zeppelin (2:34)
5) Stillborn (Acoustic, Skullage Bonus Track) - Black Label Society (6:05)
6) Wonderboy - Tenacious D (4:15)
7) Orion - Metallica (8:23)
8) Paranoid - Black Sabbath (2:45)
9) Bullet With Butterfly Wings - Smashing Pumpkins (4:22)

Hope you enjoy, and
